CCA Liger banger V3.0

I got my 20mm SiC dish and Hurricane cap in (to hold me over until Stormcells are in stock). Whew lad. She goes low and gets full vaporization. I wasn't sure how big of a difference to expect going from over a year on quartz to SiC today. I thought most where just exaggerating. As soon as I took that 1st dab and blew it out, I'm a believer. No banger+cap combo I've used has gotten such good results, and I've used a bunch.

Feels good to have something designed to pair so well together. Looking forward to trying the Stormcell.

And it's just so sexy. When my Bates / Worm outside pump comes in tomorrow, no one will hear from me for a few days as my garage will be a fog of extract vapor and me drooling in a chair.

Killer setup. Where did you get the dropdown from? I love that curve it has.

What do you have going on with the yellow/black cord material at the base of your rig?

I've been a big fan of this dropdown. The vendor makes them himself and is open to customizations. Treated me very well when I had issues with the order (was fitting the dropdown on a rather small piece with size constraints).

Here's the link in raw form, I always butcher it on FC:

Out of all the drop downs I have gone through. The iDab J hook is by far the best in that it does not stick out too far. I cannot stop buying them to replace all my old drop downs
https://www.thedabstore.com/search?type=product&q=j+hook

the clear ones are really nice if you want something more on the cheap. The Dabstore seems to have the best selection and a steady flow of new ones. You can also hit them up and they might be able to get a custom J hook made from iDab. I hit them up a few weeks ago and they were able to get me 2 custom j hooks and an extra large carb cap in red Elvis. Will post pics once it gets here

Well it was bound to happen at some point, I killed the sapphire 30mm insert after a killer sesh with @Terpstar. Thankfully we got in plenty of dabs before the accident. I ending up tipping my incycler and the water poured into the bucket, causing the water to boil and sapphire to crack all over the place. It was quite the sad scene. Now I know if I wanna take this setup out of the house I should probably use a drop down. The setup is great at home, but in a social setting it's kinda awkward. The liger wants to make the incycler tip over any chance it has. Shit happens, we move on. Lesson learned.

I couldn't afford to replace the sapphire so I emailed Josh to see if he had some SiC in stock. He did! I should be back up and running by Thursday. THX @CCA710 !!!

The whole experience left me with a new appreciation for the liger. Dabbing is not the same on any other nail. The ritual I have with the liger is so much more fun than a normal nail.

Those of you who have both, what numbers you liking on the SiC? I was doing 608 with my sapphire. I was hoping to go lower since it's a more efficient surface.
Welcome to the broken sapphire club! Can't believe you broke it the same way by spilling water inside. At least with the design you make it so it can't fall out easily which probably means this will be the most common way to send sapphire inserts to the afterlife. Definitely worthwhile to have a backup insert on hand, I personally will only take the SiC insert if I use it outside the house and also with less experienced or careful friends.

I got the rainbow 30mm Liger over a month ago and after being nearly constantly on the gold parts have taken on a dark purple hue and the inside/outside bottoms have both turned light blue.

I used my Liger off of a drop down a few times until I saw the broken sapphire posts. Maybe it's just my paranoia, but I'm already researching a good storage solution and more drop downs.

I use mine directly on my piece, a dropdown probably would have saved it in my case. I'd prefer to use a dropdown but I find it works better directly on my pieces for better balance and I don't foresee an issue with them sticking.

If you guys want something ideal to store your liger inserts, the big Oil Slick balls are the business (I can't remember exact name of the product but they are close to tennis ball sized)! :D

Good advice! For sure secure storage but products of oil slick have so ugly combinations of colours :ugh:
High end products but would like to know why they dont offer monochrome ones.

Only true solution is to chain together like 3 drop downs that go completely around your rig so you can be 100%(!!!) sure that no water will get in it

You know I endorse all of the CCA products and I am very proud of the Liger in all 3 sizes. But I do have a favorite.

I'm still so surprised how many more people are buying the 30mm over the 20mm! If you guys are about to replace a broken insert or something and have the 30mm, I urge you AGAIN to just add on a 20mm bucket and that insert and try it instead. The 30mm is bad ass, but the 20mm is just better.

As you know I have had every Liger in every version in every size. There is no better choice IMO than the 20mm v3. I am alternating between the SiC and quartz now on the 20mm and my brand new 30mm sapphire insert sits there dormant because I prefer the SiC or Quartz with the 20mm over the 30mm. Just letting you guys know tyhat if you haven't tried the 20mm version, it's a different nail. Give it a shot!

I had a sesh at my house with 6 people. 5/6 preferred the 20mm form factor to the 30mm... Just sayin. Don't pick your nail just because that's what size of heating coil you happen to already have. You can grab a 20mm coil for $40 and it will last years.

Would you mind showing a pic of the top view of your setup? I love the view I get with the 30mm and going smaller is hard to wrap my head around. That view is part of my enjoyment.

Now If I were taking melt shot videos, well that's a different story. Chase has that covered though! If you want to see a pretty melt shot check out Chase on ccc420, The 30mm would win the visual for sure. But I get a better dab off of the 20. There is still plenty of real estate to dab into on the 20mm. You will notice I have a 30mm sapphire but most of my pics and videos have the 20mm in them because that is the daily driver. I'm not saying the 30mm isn't awesome. I'm just saying that with both of them in front of me I will grab the 20mm most of the time.

It doesn't seem you get much a view of the action unless you were to position a camera or am I wrong? When you take a dab are you able to watch? Seems like 20mm is too deep and small to see anything.

Also if you were dabbing scoops of unpressed full melt at all! That shit needs more surface area to melt up evenly and quickly!

The reason I will not even bother checking out the 20mm is that the entire appeal of the liger for me was having a bigger place to aim when I dump in bowls of loose powdery full melt.

To me, 20mm liger requires that I buy a new heater coil when I have plenty of flat coils already and would give me a surface area for dabbing that would provide little benefit over the d-nail sapphire halo (I would also truly miss the inner side of the d-nail halo around the center hole for applying one's dab easily off of the side of a flat tool, the dab always ran to the base and spread well! The sides of the liger inserts are not so good for this purpose since moving the dabber around the sides in a circular motion can simply cause the insert to spin!).

Given that the Liger with Sapphire is considerably more expensive than the d-nail sapphire that I already had, it has to justify itself for my purposes beyond just being a sapphire e-nail - it must also provide some benefit that the sapphire e-nail I already have doesn't! After all, I have spent thousands of dollars on these nails and various dishes all up! I want each to be very clearly justified!

I am not saying the above to say that some of you wouldn't prefer 20mm, just to say that in some cases, there are very clear grounds to opt for the 30mm. Those who like melt shots will definitely want 30mm too, as you say :)

Exactly. I love the large surface area. Recently got some full melt and dabbing on anything smaller just isn't fun.

Nice to have options though.

In other news my glass ball carb cap should be in the mailbox when I get home. I'll be back to report how it is. Very excited.

Oh man I've been waiting to hear how that cap works out! :D

Also glad to hear that the full melt is gracing your bowl, my friend! :D

Do you use the scoop tip? Curious what your thoughts are on it. I think it's too large. I've mainly been pressing and folding the hash into strips. Would I be better off using the scoop with it unpressed?

OK, well if I had a steady supply of 6 star full melt maybe my preference would change lol! I am assuming that most of us lowly folk are still dabbing Shatter, wax, Rosin, sugar type materials.
On the occasion I get 6 star I turn the 30mm sapphire nice and low and use the storm cell cap. That is only about 5% of my usage though due to availability.
As far as coils are concerned that just isn't a good reason to pick your nail that cost so much to dab your very expensive concentrates on. Coils are damn cheap (less than 1 gram of 6 star) especially if you can afford a steady supply of 6 star hash ;)

I still will say when I have them side by side, set up together and give a room full of people a chance to try both with shatter, wax, budder, sugar type concentrates it's always a landslide towards the 20mm. BUT there is always that guy in the room that says he like the 30mm better, and I always use the 16mm on the go, that's why there are 3 sizes!
But I would think the 20mm would be better for most non-6 star hash tokers.

They all 3 work quite well though, just thought I should steer those that are only getting 1 bucket in the right direction for the concentrate they use most. but good point on the 6 star Trich heads! They like to be scooped and dumped!

Feel free to ask Josh to loan me a 20mm bucket and inserts hehe. I'm sure my position could be reversed, but I'm just not sure I want to spend more to find out.
