So according to @Alan from our email conversation, he sees these benefits for a Mi-Log when compared to a traditional log:

"The Mi-Log could be a game changer for those who like bigger bowls than you get with a log style vaporizer. The Milaana hits harder than any log vaporizer I have ever tried plus it has the larger bowl size. The other thing I'm going to like about the Mi-Log is that the stem / roasting tube will not be hot enough to burn you when removed from the unit. The stem is always hot enough to burn when removed from a log style vaporizer. The Mi-Log should also stay cool to the touch, unlike log style vaporizers. If you had a battery pack, the Mi-Log would last a long time as a portable and give consistent hits. No changing batteries and no loss of power"

"That would be fine for you to post my quote about the benefits of a Mi-Log over traditional logs. Sums it up well. I'm sure others will soon see the benefits. It also costs less to operate since it isn't using power the whole time between uses. Will need to post some photos of voltage controller updates in the Mi-Log thread"

So yeah having an instant on demand desktop that does not need to be "always on" is pretty huge actually, and more ideal for me personally
These are good points to consider, indeed. I prefer to see it as a plugged-in Zion I think. :D

Yeah I think both Zion and Milaana will have pass through and vvps capability thanks to @Alan at some point in the future as well, so there will many options in the RBT line up to suit any customer. I agree plugged in Zion seems perhaps most ideal of all, but many of us crazy folk here (as we see above) will want the whole line up too, even if a bit redundant for them

From what I understood as a potential first-time log vape buyer, 2months ago, was that the main detraction from log vapes were:

*the initial start up time (assuming you're starting from the unit being completely off - those worried about the wait time from button press to vapor production should at least try a Milaana before doubting)

*possible heat fatigue

*deterioration of the wood over time

this solves all of those. and in either case, this doesn't seem like it's supposed to be a "traditional" log.

While the brief clip RBT posted doesn't show the total time the button was pressed for, assuming this is "only" as powerful as Milaana - it wouldn't require long (ie probably within a second or two), especially since there is no need to account for battery loss etc.
As a log owner I think many of those don't apply. None of my wood products-including the milaana or logs have deterioated and they heat up very quickly.
Still my HI took a couple of years to order given the length of the waiting list. Besides the RBT features, this will make HI's much more available.
Alan already has some nice stems that work with the Milaana or HI.

Congratulations RBT. This is exciting news.

This is basically my ideal vape. The power and manual control of the milaana, log shaped, without having to fuss around with batteries.

Logs are great, but they aren't as instant or as versatile as the Milaana. Milaana is ready to inhale from as soon as I press the button. Log needs a few quick minutes. They heat up quickly enough, but it can't compare to instant.

And the addition of a stable, adjustable voltage from the wall takes the milaana's biggest "flaw" away from it.

I'm liking the choice to use driftwood. It's a cool look and stands out as unique among the variety of other log vapes out there.

Zion with wall adapter fills a niche between desktop and portable that hasn't really been nailed yet. Some devices offer pass through charging but all the ones I've used discharge faster than they charge so it's not really comparable to unlimited power.

I seem to have a bad case of VAS
Well I guess I am going to have a collection of logs now. Going to be buying an underdog (hopefully a mini and micro as well), on the heat island list, was hoping to get Ed's woodscent, an enano is always an option, the HGL for good measure, and now I will have to buy this as well. $99 is a steal and a half. This is a great team up. Love it!

What a year this is shaping up to be. If only I had unlimited funds. If only. Man my wife's gonna be pissed. She might have a little trouble comprehending my VAS addiction. She already has asked that 1 question all true vaporists dread. When will enough be enough. And I simply said "Hey I never question your # of shoes". I mean it's all relative right. Wouldn't 1 pair of tennis shoes be enough or just one black pair of heels be enough. Not every color and style they make.
Ya were not quite seeing eye to eye on this one.

Anyway this is fucking sweet as hell and it's at the very top of my wish list. Very top.

As a shoe person myself, you might help her understand what a great deal this is. A log-never mind a high quality log- for $100 is an amazing price. Comparable to her finding her favorite shoes for <$15 or$10.

On the other hand I am no longer working. The zion, which I've paid for, and Ed's log were supposed to be my only purchases for 2017. It's day 4 and I'm already sold on this.

Wow, it's nice to see folks are digging this. I personally am really most excited to have the opportunity to work with Alan. Today I packed up the Mi-Log (not the long term name btw :) along with three sets of heater glass assemblies, heaters, mica, buttons and hardware. I also included some straight tubes and loose heater glass screens as Alan has a really cool plan for a... well I really can't tell you that ;)

So, with that and this video I leave this project in the capable hands of Alan and the brilliant minds of FC as I am on a mission to get a train back on the tracks

Full disclosure that is VG enhanced vapor... straight up flower ain't takin' that kinda power lol. Just horsing around with the high power. With the power supply and open flow path you can pretty much go where ever you want. @Alan is putting a team together who will really dial this thing in so stay tuned.....

Sadly mine is frugal as it gets. And I shop at Dollar Tree. Ha ha

I agree with @ZC that this is pretty much the ideal device for my preferences.

If the planned launch date stays Dec17, this will be my college graduation gift to myself :D

Can't wait to see how this evolves over the next few months

Am I the only one who can't freaking wait for him to move on to a desktop, I honestly would have said screw the milaana, isn't the main difficulty of this is making it portable ?

I'm actually surprised there isn't an on demand convection plug-in vape yet, at least not that I can think of, and this is the only kind of tech I would want in one. Imagine having it the size of/or smaller than a Nano.

Pick 'er up, plop 'er on, press the button! You don't leave it heat soaked unless you want it to be. No anxiety of your cat knocking over your log when your not around or what not. I don't have a cat so that's not my issue. My nano serves me great 24/7 so I don't know why I'd like this so much, I think you'd have the best of the manual and regulated world.

It could be like the e-nail of plug-in convection vapes! (like style and design wise is what I was thinking)

Just spit ballin', glad the feel of this thread is starting to feel a little more like the way it was before October. I guess most of us still hanging on are over it and just want anything moving forward.

The milaana has shown that, honestly anything is better than nothing.

@AJS This was posted back to the beginning of last year.

To me that looks basically like the same style as the EQ/VTower which both use whips, and like I said, whips are terrible. :puke:

Yessss though! It could be very small if you keep most of the electronics in it's own separate housing. I'm thinking it would just rest on a hydrafoot stand (That could be also incased in a gorgeous species of wood). so the cord could come from the bottom of the body.

I'm not sure how big the Toasty Top is but it's basically the perfect example of what I'd like to see, just put some RBT tech in there and slap a button on it!

Too bad I'm not an engineer.

You could have already had me on a list. I had this idea in MAY!

Like... what the fuck.

My only gripe with my Milaana is the batteries since I only use it at home sitting at my desk gaming or on the couch watching tv. THIS is what I need.

Such a blast to brainstorm with Alan. I won't leak to much of his master plan but imagine a compact HI Log in the palm of your hand with a slender wire leading to a single or double 18650 power pack in your jacket pocket... great for a hike. Imagine a HI power supply leading to a driftwood coffee table vape with Zion electronics controlling multiple heaters for the ultimate party vape. Come in from a walk and drop the battery out of your Mi and through in the HI power supply battery for home use.

The power supply, DC/DC, cord set and connectors will be the basis for a good number of possible products.

I am excited to see @Alan work with folks like @ZC and @KeroZen and anyone that has input to this endevor.

I think the coordset and connectors is worth some attention. The idea is to leverage existing industry standard products that have a modern new age feel.... braided cable and gold plated connectors sounds dope who can afford it? Is an old school two wire acceptable? What is reliable, universal, stylish cord and connector set that won't break the bank? Would flat wire be more pliable and manageable? Let's face it, everyone hates cords, especially non-standard ones.

So, speak up all you Log lovers... FC is always chock full of sound professional feedback.

I'd prefer braided cords as I feel like it makes the wiring more resilient. I'm impartial to the plating of the connector as long as it isn't fragile. I had a braided (not coiled though) gold-plated connector cable for my mech keyboard, and it completely broke INSIDE the connector as I lifted my keyboard to clean underneath it...

2 wires is fine, especially if they are thin. If the 2 wires wrapped together are as thick or thicker than some of the large cords that some log vapes use (I believe AC? I have like a 5% chance of being correct so sorry) then it defeats the purpose imo. Or at least significantly reduces the portability and makes tabletop usage a bit more of a chore - especially with a smaller/lighter vape.

I guess I still haven't fully wrapped my head around how awesome this portable power supply will be.

I'm not sure if the form is going to stay the same but I think it be better if it was blockier like the Milaana, that way you can set it down on its side without worrying about it rolling off a table/desk.

I'm sure it's going to change but that cord shown definitely needs to be a bit beefier.

Most of the HI logs have some way to stay upright. I imagine that there will be something that will develop given the 2 talents involved. I am so excited that these 2 are working together to come up with an affordable vape. It will be amazing.
