after a quiet stretch, we've been busy again at the fv lab cooking up a new thing, id like to introduce the Flashvape Gongvape!

gongvape-3.jpg

"hey check out the new guy!"

This is a desktop, pure convection on demand vaporizer. It is a combination of the powerful, on demand technology Flashvape is known for, coupled with the flexible power of the FVPA, and adapted for standard 18mm GonG application making this the perfect Gongvape! oh yeah, it also works great in stand alone mode :)

more information on the Flashvape Gongvape is available and can be found here:

The Gongvape is sure to hit the spot with GonG enthusiasts! The water cooled vapor makes a huge difference to anyone with throat sensitivity to hot vapor, and mmj patients who need a healthier alternative to smoking for regular use.

...cheers! im gonna load up the rig right now :)

The FlashVape has been great fun for me.
I just received the Power Adapter for this Vape.. which eliminates the need to charge batteries.
(It also ties you to an outlet, but I am not going anywhere soon!)
When I got this, I did not know what to expect. How could FV work well with a PA?
I learned fast that I was incorrect, because this thing rocks!
My FV with S2 installed has a very large capacity, and with PA is fool-proof.
I used the unit all evening, and stayed pretty darned happy.
FV did a remarkably detailed job at getting all of the instructions lined out for every part of the setup.
FV comes with great instructions, but there are separate instructions in specific detail for S2 and for PA as well.
The actual clean professionally labeled aspect is beautiful also, leaving NO chance to mistake what part goes with which, and which batteries go where. There is nothing "stick-on" about the parts. Each part proudly bears the FV logo, and was manufactured for or by FV.
VERY professional job with an eye on detail.

The PA allowed me to hold down that button with impunity when I desired longer thicker pulls... by a simple adjustment of level.

I hope you like the video!

It was true then, and it is true now.
I just had the golden opportunity to check out the "Shorty",
and I was most pleased.
While it can be used with a small straw for on demand vaping, I liked using the GonG as a mouthpiece, and getting great hits!

Nice to see FlashVAPE is still in action. That new GongVape looks very familiar from years back when one of the residents here (I forget who offhand) was doing some experiments with removing the battery space. Looks great in your video, Vitolo.

Anyone reading the FlashVAPE thread knows that I love the FV and used it extensively for a long time. I was asked to try this new device just before it was announced, but personal matters interfered and I haven't has as much opportunity to explore it as I would have liked. Nevertheless, I do have some impressions to share.

You'll note that I placed this thread in the Plug-in forum, because this really is a desktop unit. The actual vapourizer part is a shorty—basically a battery-powered FV with the now unnecessary battery chamber removed. It still has the same swivel top, ceramic bowl, screen system, etc. As you can see from the picture, mine arrived with the tabbed screen and a ceramic spacer in place. I found that for practical GonG use this setup absorbed too much heat so I removed it, but see my comment later about my PA.

This is truly a desktop device because of the cord. Cord management, however, can be annoying. The cord is thick and isn't that pliable. When you move the GonGvape (GV) then you must be careful. Like any heavy cord, it can knock over or move things, and sometimes twist in unexpected ways. This isn't much of a problem, but it something you have to be aware of. Because of the cord, the GV can't stand on its own, so you can either lie it on its side or leave it mounted on your glass. The issue is that this means that you have to hold it to load it. The load goes into the oven, not the swivel cap, so it's a two-handed operation.

The benefit of the cord is that it connects to the PA. The great thing about the PA is that you can experiment to find the settings that deliver what you want, the get them consistently. My PA is one of the earliest and it's been through the wars, however. I therefore can't guarantee that my settings will work for others, but I will describe the method that I wound up using.

The GV is a true 100% convection device because you use it inverted, so the load rests on the swivel cap screen, well away from the heater. For any given PA setting, the GV reaches maximum heat quickly. After 5 seconds, you can be pretty sure that it won't get hotter. Because it is a convection vapourizer, you can bring the GV to maximum temperature without fear of combustion—yet. This means that even at the scary 10 setting, I can hold the button down for 15-20 seconds without producing significant vapour. As soon as you start to pull, however, the heat is immediately dumped into your load and at 10, you will combust (at least I did). I found that at 10, I could avoid combustion only by releasing the button just as I began to pull. YMMV.

The saner way of doing this is to take advantage of the ability to reach maximum heat first and start creeping up from lower settings. My technique was to hold for 5 seconds, then pull until I saw vapour and immediately release. Once I figured out where my sweet spot was, I then experimented with continuing to keep power on. At settings up to about 8.5, I could not reach combustion, but above that I had to be careful.

As for flavour, it's another FV, thus the flavour is excellent. Load efficiency is up to you. It's an on-demand convection vapourizer. You can vary load sizes and power settings, so you can achieve pretty much anything with a little experimentation.

Another outstanding looking desktop. So it can be converted to the portable?

No.

The top temperature is well past combustion. That's the problem for many people, because it takes some practice before you can control it. You will probably combust a few times during the learning experience, especially through water. If you increase the power a little at a time, as I describe above, you can find your sweet spot on the PA dial and just leave it there.

yes, this is essentially a miniaturized version of the portable FV Turbo (without the battery compartment / handle), it is solely powered by the fully adjustable FVPA for plug-in power, and comes pre-installed with the adapter for glass.

the device also works great for dabs of liquid or wax! my favourite way of dabbing with the GonGvape is to go with a small dab directly onto the center of the heating element screen. because of the massive power of the FV, and how the robust FV heating element screen can reach and maintain red hot temperatures, you are getting essentially the same effect as dabbing with a blowtorch heated device, just with a smaller quantity of liquid concentrate/wax per dab. as many dabbers know, high heat is essential for a good oil hit because it seriously reduces the harshness of the vapour, and makes the taste so much better.

That's pretty awesome. Might be saving for one of these. I would definitely get a dry 18mm mouthpiece and the hydro 18mm attachment. :):rockon:
