Micro-dosing

Crazy man, at first when I seen your pics of tiny loads I thought you were a decimal place off. Then I actually weighed a similar load myself for comparison. You da man Dave.

I think for the majority the important thing may be the direction, rather than the destination. I think smaller loads being inhaled is a healthy goal that would help all of us. Even if it's a gram per day, when previously it was several per day.

I know I've personally reduced my usage roughly by a factor of ten over my old joint days.

But DAMN Dave! Your my light weight hero, lol.
Thanks @shredder

I do need to give credit to @lwien and all the spotlight he brought to microdosing. Made me curious to see what the difference would be, as I was definitely not a micro-doser at the time.

To keep my tale short, I was attempting to treat vertigo from Menier's disease. I had the spins daily and mobility was badly impacted. Vaping MMJ and I was 99% cured, but then I was mobile and pretty much blazed all the time. Even with tolerance, I was impacting my daily routine... there were things I wasn't comfortable doing being highly elevated.
So, reading the posts on those who were micro-dosing, I set out to lower my tolerance (oh how I do hate TBreaks!) and when I came off the break, I kept myself at strict micro-dose amounts. After getting the routine down and myself used to the dosage levels, I found I was treating my condition without impacting my lifestyle. At that point, I was hooked!

What I've found that made me successful in Micro-Dosing:
* Strict compliance with your predetermined dosage levels. Once in a while, taking it to recreational levels (that was .05g weekend daytime), but not as regular practice.
* Setting proper expectations of effects. Was looking for that "hint of elevation" and not that eyes-throbbing looking out from a goldfish bowl at the world blasted feeling.
* Keeping it fresh. No longer looking for a deal on an Oz. Now it's down to grams. (At my .05g per day regular dosage, an Oz would last approx 560 days. On a single strain, I would have gotten used to it and would have had to keep increasing dosages to maintain same effects).
* Using the right vape for the job! (Example, could you imagine trying to vape .005g in a Volcano?)

Vape On!

I'm envious of him too! :brow:

My weekday load size is .005g during daytime... somewhere between 1-3 sessions.
Evening weekday load (nightcap) is .035g to .04g, strain dependent.

On weekends, I may double this dosage... depending on activities planned. Except for the nightcap dose... maybe add 25% to it on weekends.

I do now suffer from Strain-Envy though!!!!!! Any idea how long an 1/8 lasts me? ;)
hehehe...talking about slipping a decimal point. I believe I meant .01 - .02 grams....10 to 20 milligrams, yeah. But I see that your daytime loads are even smaller than that.

Right now, I'm ok if I can get by with .05 - .07 g loads and about a .1 - .15 total for the day taken at night for sleep and pain.

Cheers

If you're treating pain, .15g I would say is a micro-dose quantity... If/When I try to treat some type of pain with MMJ, I do have to increase the dosage as well.

Definitely agree with this. Pain has a much higher threshold to feel effects from the ganja. I think it's because your body wants to constantly maintain your pain system as it believes it's warning you of imminent damage to your body. Oh dumb body...lol

Be careful with that dosage in regards to pain relief. For many, small dosages are the way to go......that is, just enough to relieve the pain but no more. In many instances, that means using much less than you would in a recreational setting.

btw, here is a very interesting read from my go-to dispensary in regards to pain and vaping:

the problem with the experiment the article talks about is that they didn't test the patients with CBD variables, only THC. so for pain relief measurements these weren't such ideal conditions.

Thank you, very interesting article. My small personal issue is that sleep is almost impossible for me due to back pain and neuropathy so pain relief and sedation are key characteristics I seek.

I am in that .1 - .2 gram range of usage and glad to know that for my application that still falls into 'micro-dosing (relatively speaking). I do try to manage my tolerance very closely...not just for cost impact but mostly to keep the effects nice and sharp and I'm trying very hard to stick to .2 g night time session. That amount is still good for now, if its good herb and through my VapCap, Enano, GH, or VapCaps which are all pretty efficient.

One of the guys I work with has that. For him micro dosing is not really an option. It is great that you can get results without going big. I have had excellent results with adjusting strains to get a good THC CBD balance for him; dropping from .75g/day to .33g/day.

I really feel for people in non legal/medical states in that regard. Simply having a connection doesn't cut it for medical usage. You really need access to a LARGE variety of strains.

Microdosing sometimes becomes way easier, based on the vaporizer you use.

I just had a standard 12 min session on a solo with 1 bowl. You can't finish off a bowl without watertools in that time, so my dose is less than 1 full solo bowl which is ..? .16 or something? Some people put 0.5-1g in their J and also take a 12ish amout of minutes to finish that.

Oh, I agree completely. My state passed MMJ four frakin years ago and are still f'ing up implementation of the program. And we taxes for this type of service? sigh

But clearly I will be able to treat my condition much better when I'm not just buying 'bags of crap' which is what I call street herb cause no matter what they call it, no matter how it looks and smells, you never really know what the fuck it is. LOL

For me, access to some specific strain/strain types would be very beneficial.

Thanks

You absolutely right, a little off topic, but right.

Along with varietal differences that are readily accessible, good quality weed satisfies much better, than poor, especially in micro amounts.

So in that aspect the more growers and choices we have, the better for us vaporists.

Im having hard time to decide between Pax2 or Mighty.

How does the Mighty work in microdosing? How about Pax2 with half oven lid?

Pax2 is currently 180€ and Mighty goes for 300€ so there is considerable price difference to consider as well..

How about some recommendations for good mg scales?
I now have a few AWS type portables but they are hit and miss. You can get them on ebay for cheap.
Looking for .001 or .01 accuracy.
I know the accuracy has limits unless you spend upwards of $1000.

well don't get one for 10€ as mine (free gift) stopped working after only two days :)

never used the pax, but the mighty is the king of all microdosing known to me.

If you just put in 0.02g of weed and top it of with the liquid pad, then take a good hit at 210°C, you will realize how micro dosing really can work. Also with the cooling unit you can reclaim for kind of an eternity. I was completely out of weed and did nothing as reclaim, vape the oil and then reclaim it again for 9 days straight. That's 9 days microdosing oil that has been vaped again, and again, and again. If you can get a satisfactory effect without paying a cent for weed for over a week, then it's the epitome of money saving and micro dosing.

edit: good 400th post.

With the pax2 i use newvape pusher and screen. Micro-dosing very good. Mighty also very good. I think ff2 is the winner and see how few entries on ff2 thread. Means,to me very little actual device problems. However it took me a while to get the results. @stickstones helped me with a fool proof packing methodology. You can then take one hit put it away and the material does not degrade.

Get one that does .001g. If you only get .01g capability and want to microdose, there's a big difference between .01 and .019g... and a .01 scale will read .01 for both.

Here's an awesome one...

this looks like twin of @DDave version.
SmartWeigh GEM 20 but it includes 2 calibrating weights.

I first bought a 0.1 gm accuracy scale and then decided I needed the 0.01 accuracy scale/ bought one.
Now I need the 0.001 gm accuracy scale.

To be proactive, what's a good 0.0001 gm accuracy scale??? Just kidding ;)

I have 3 of the AWS portables that do .001 but they are far from perfect as in they fail and they quite often will not register the product. :)
I was looking at the one you mentioned. I will give it a try.
Thanks for the push:).

But if you need this, you've got me whooped as far as micro-dosing!
.......................................................................................
Hmmm, only $1274 for the .0001 scale..... so in about 300 years I'd make up that price by super accurate dosing :)

These .001 scales for under $20 are super cheap, compared to recent history.

I now record each session on my ABV bottle so will know better my average dose when I weigh/calculate for grins. Currently have a small glass spice jar, like what cinnamon might come in--some are labeled 1.6 oz to 2.7 oz. It's maybe 1/8 full from probably 50+ loads and each load was usually done over two sessions and sometimes 3 sessions.
