Some rousing comments from fellow patients:
"Best vape in your collection."
"Like something you'd dream up."

Session between two people, on Setting 1, then 2, filled and packed:
Amazing flavor on setting 1, absolutely top shelf flavor.
Beautiful clouds kept coming on setting 2, and while the flavor wasn't a choir of minty pine angels in my mouth, as it was on setting 1, the flavor was outstanding throughout.
We did not finish the chamber as we were content at about a dozen draws. I will post on the results of firing it up and finishing the session.

Thought I'd found the first downside to the unit when I went to remove the battery to toss it into my external charger(love that! and LOVE that it runs on 18650s!!), and wasn't able to. Not sure if it's been mentioned or if it's just my unit, but I had to remove the flavor chamber to remove the battery. Not an issue at all, but good to know before someone gets frustrated and tries forcing the battery chamber door.

Affection for this unit is growing quickly and I still haven't explored the full range of features on it.
I haven't even opened the app yet.

Any info on the accuracy of the temp. set vs. actual temp. in the oven when heating? I noticed when the oven is cold(not used since hours, room temp. 70F) and I check the app(device turned off, but connected), it shows the lowest temp. around 100F. As I see it measures 30F too much than the actual temp should be.

Is there a noticeable difference in the temperature of the vapor between Ascent and IQ? Just wondering if the claims that the ceramic zirconia air path cools the vapor. My unit won't be here until Friday, but would assume the vape distance traveled is shorter in the IQ, and if the flavor chamber is left empty, there is nothing to slow the vapor down through its journey to the mouthpiece.

Just put an order in for a blue one at the LHS. They lent me one last night to try. it is a beautiful machine i got hooked. the head shop manager is making me a glass bead to help reduce oven size for free.

@stickstones I think the IQ and FF2 are a great pairing and they complement each other well.

How so?

5th in queue for over 2hrs just to be hanged up on.

Feels like they only have 1 person taking calls.

Is this seriously the best way to get in contact with them? Email takes days to get a response.

Took a picture of some of the scratches I found this morning. It was fine when I went to sleep, no clue what could've happened to it. I am NOT faulting DaVinci at all as my medicated ass definitely caused it (somehow), just wanted to post as a precaution.

Also I know it looks like just some dirt, absolutely will not come off. I think some IQ finish rubbed off, maybe easy to do when it's warm?

I don't know, man...maybe that gold finish scratches more easily. My black unit is still scratch free.

If it makes you feel any better, the Pax3 has a much worse problem with scratching. You chose the better vape.

Have you had iso near it at all???

Maybe a stray splash could have caused it...

you shouldn't have to do that. I'm trying to visualize why you'd have to and I can't

I thought I posted this earlier, but I did a temp test with a sensor in the bowl in the middle of a ball of hemp fiber to simulate a packed load. The temp at the center of the load would trail the walls by about a minute, but once stabilized it was spot on and didn't stray. One of the best temp results I've ever had.

They're both small, expensive, classy as shit portables that are self contained when packed. The FF2 satisfies my need for one-hitters and is tops in class for taste, and it does concentrates as well as any hand held flower vape out there (if you value taste and efficiency). The IQ gives me a bigger punch to the face and is better for groups or just passing around without having to train people. And it tastes great as well, so I don't sacrifice taste when I grab one or the other!

It's always hard to try and contact any vape company near launch time. It's not them, it happens to them all...hang in there.

Honestly, just because its hard to get in contact with any vape company near launch time doesn't mean shitty customer service is okay/excusable. There is absolutely no valid reason to go weeks without responding to your customer's emails/phone calls. It is them. And they need to do better. And if other vape companies have shitty customer service, they need to do better too.

I agree. But that is rarely how I've seen it go down in this industry, so I thought I'd share that.

And this is why I'm starting to think about not buying it. Had an issue like this with another company and I'm not giving my money to any company that doesn't have a good CS.

Be careful when twisting off the pearl, it's definitely possible to rip off the rubber post if you aren't careful.

Here's a tip: When unscrewing the pearl go slowly and push down on the post while you unscrew so the pearl is forced to move more and the post won't twist and break off.

Also if you loosen the pearl too much and it comes off it can be a bit difficult to thread it back on the right way, put just a tiny bit of water on the post and it makes the rubber threads slide easier into the pearl.

Hey everyone, been lurking since my order on Nov. 2 (Blue) #57853. I received my unit yesterday, December 6. I just wanted to post my initial thoughts upon unboxing and first two sessions.

Unboxing impressions: Everything was very neatly organized, and it seemed like packaging suitable for a top-tier product. Although these things I could honestly care less about. What WAS really cool (and unexpected at least for me) were three things: a second little tool/pick (the first being in the unit itself) stealthy sleeved into a silicon "Da Vinci" keychain thingy - neat. The optional mouthpiece/adapter also came with a second silicon seal. I really enjoy having duplicates of these tiny but necessary parts. The last was the little metal/sealable carry can. Will be nice to have to carry around preground herbs.

Aesthetics: It feels great in the hand. Nice weight to it, the material feels great and sturdy in the hand. The blue is not nearly as blue as I was hoping. More like a light silver with a hint of blue. Looks really great though.

App impressions: Cool, but not perfect. I love the accessibility of it, and the dashboard is an awesome visual feedback to have on your temperatures. However, I have a little bit of beef in customizing the Smart Paths. For example, I wish the curve was a bit more free-form (if that's the right word?). Basically I don't like being limited by 3 inflection points, and wished there were more. Also, the smart path can only RAISE the temperature. I actually would be interested in setting a smart path that starts out pretty hot for the first minute in order to help raise the overall temperature of the herb and then cool off towards a more neutral temperature over time. This cannot currently be done, however, it seems like it would be simple to implement this + a more flexible curve pattern. Other little annoyances included the connection breaking anytime I navigated away from the app, and I would need to shutdown the app and restart it to regain that connection.

First session impressions: I weighed out about 0.3g of coarsely ground herbs (I do not have a fine grinder, yet). In hindsight, and for the second session, I upped this to about 0.4g. Which is significant for me, because I typically am solo seshing, so wow, I was a bit overdone by the end, so to speak. I started out on Smart Path 2, the flavor was just fantastic. Got some pretty nice clouds. Towards the last 2 minutes of the session, I was using the Boost functionality to make sure I got everything. Flavor suffered a little bit, but that was to be expected, and actually, it was not as bad as I was expecting.

Battery/warmth: I did not use the 3500mAh battery. Instead I used a high-drain 20A Samsung 25R 2500mAh. It did get warm, but definitely not worryingly hot. And even using the flat mouth piece, never did I feel discomfort. Felt rather good in my cold apartment as well.

Clicking Noise: The clicking noise, as I understand it, is a naturally occurring part of how the electronics work to heat up the oven. I believe what you are hearing is pulse width modulation, working to keep the oven heated, at a controlled and consistent temperature.

Second session impressions: This time I went with 0.4g and tried to do a 5-min sesh from around 360-390 and then save the rest for another 5-min sesh at 390-420. I think it was rather successful in that I still had some green by the end of the first session. And as in the first session, vapor production and quality was on POINT. I did notice the draw resistance increased, but I guess that is something for me to get used to (new to portable conduction). I did notice that when I opened the oven to stir it for part 2 of the second session, it was no longer as tampered as it was for the first session, which impacted the overall performance that part of the session. I suppose one could "top off".

Micro-dosing: I have yet to try the "tampered puck" method, but I am curious bc these oven sizes are much too large for just me. IMO Da Vinci needs to release a ceramic microdosing oven outfit.

Cleaning impressions: While the unit was still warm from the part 2 of the second session, I opened up the oven, and used the metal pick to pour out all of my ABV. All a nice, even brown, with the exception of maybe 5% of the bowl that was lightly clinging to the Pearl. Immaterial, IMO. A mid-session stir could've corrected this. I then used the little brush to fully scrub the contents of the oven. Then I removed the mouthpiece, flavor chamber, and with a q-tip soaked in Iso wiped down these + the ceramic oven. Minor staining in the oven already. Also I was surprised by the amount of "debris?" that made its way into the flavor chamber. I took another q-tip and went down into the gaping hole where the flavor chamber would meet up with the oven, and tried to clean out that tough-to-reach spot. It is indeed a trouble area, IMO.

This ended up being a lot longer than I expected, but these were all things I would've wanted to hear awhile I was still lurking, so - here you are! Let me know of any questions you have and I'll do my best to follow up!

Just received my IQ and I am slightly worried I have one of the defective ones people seem to be talking about. My device gets so hot to the touch you almost can't hold it, and I haven't even used it to smoke yet, that was just while setting smart paths. Is this something most people are experiencing? I can't get myself to try to deal with their customer service again...
Mine does the same exact thing. I can't go a single 10 minute session without it getting too hot to hold. It honestly makes me afraid to put it near my face.

Hi all, just got mine today, ordered Nov 18th. I'd really like to try it out because I waited so long to get it, but mine curiously didn't come with a flavor chamber. I checked all the boxes, vaporizer and the area I unboxed everything for what seemed like a million times but it just didn't come with it. Got everything else though. I'm currently trying to get one sent out to me (good luck, I know), but what I'm wondering is does anyone think I can use this thing without the flavor chamber?

Very strange. It is an integral part of the package. Mine, and I assume others had the flavor chamber seated exactly where it should be. In the vapor path.

Yeah it just isn't there, just a gaping hole. I checked and rechecked and double checked my recheck and kept checking to the point where I was certain I was going nuts.

You can tell that they're really rushing to get these out the door, at least with my package anyway. The box wasn't packed in the shipping box very well (didn't really need to be anyway, the vaporizer is plenty secure in the box it comes in), the instructions were upside down on the vaporizer when I opened the box, and there was a fingerprint on top of the battery door which tells me they're piecing the vaporizer together with some or all of the loose pieces before putting the whole package together. My guess is the person/people who put mine together overlooked it or got distracted or whatever, and I understand.. these things happen when you're in a rush.
