New bubbler needed for my Grasshopper

Hey guys,

I was just wondering if there are any good easy to use, cheap bubblers that work well for the GH? I've currently got the Pinnacle Pro Hydrotube but looking for something a bit easier to use.

Got my eye on these, anyone had any experience with any? I'm looking for this kind of layout (Grasshopper standing upright, curved mouthpiece)

One of the most popular bubblers on this site is the D020 in dhgate. It's a proven winner.

Those are not the best picks at all IMO. The only one worth owning out of those is the "bomb tower" which can be had on DH gate for less.Try the Cheap bubbler thread for real. But you want a 14mm female first of all for the GH or else you will need a 18/14mm adapter. I would go with one of these.

This is the popular matrix perc but in a 14.4 mm native for the GH. This would be my first pick for you.

And this little fab beaker is think and 14.4. These next 2 are dab rigs but would suffice to cool vapor just fine and would retain flavor better than the robbers posted above.

Here is a little straight fab that is 14,4mm if you would rather.

The FC-UFO is another great choice if you want a bigger can but you will need a 18 to 14mm adapter for this or any other 18mm piece. This is actually one of my favorite Chinese flower pieces!

Thank you very much for that masively informative post. I've done some reconsidering and have found 4 choices that I really like, I've listed them below in choice order. In your opinion are any of them ones I should avoid? (I'm aware of the 18mm adapter)

MUCH better picks this time around bro! I would go with any of them but the Toro clone (#2) it is nice but better for oil IMO. All of the other 3 are great for you. I would go with #3 if it's for the GH.

Thanks, how can you tell the Toro is better for oil?

I have just used both types of percs and study glass A LOT lately. That is a Knock off of a Toro Internal Stemless Froth Perc. It is pretty awesome, it forces water up through the perc instead of having vapor pass through the water around the perc. It has a different feel and is overall made for oils.BUT I have heard of people using it and loving it as a vapor rig too. The other 3 will have less initial draw restriction, especially the matrix percs that have almost none.

I like to use my gh with the mflb orbiter... there should be a similar on dhgate.. altough the quality of the mflb orbiter is really great thick glass... also I would not trust the silicone used in the dhgate orbiter knock off version...

Imfind the orbiter more comfortable the a normal bubbler because I do not have to bent over the bubbler... also in my opinion the orbiter seems much smaller but bevause of his round (ball) form it has alot of volume...

Do you think something like this would be too complitcated for vapour?

http://www.dhgate.com/store/product/2015-new-glass-bong-smoking-water-pipe-with/240744123.html

I've been told when using for vapor, to go with something simple
It would certainly make it smooth, at the cost of a lot of flavour and some potency.
I would choose a single chamber piece for vapour.

The matrix sidecar is a good choice, and is impressive to look at in person.
However, a sidecar rig isn't the most ergonomic piece to use with the GH, I'd recommend looking at this, or here it is again but a bit smaller..

There's also a really nice bombtower from Steven (60T knock-off) worth considering.

And it's worth mentioning a decent basic beaker, which could be upgraded with a better downstem too

Thank you for the amazing advice. I actually bought this one a few hours ago:

http://dhgate.com/product/good-quality-water-bong-glass-ash-catcher/232307746.html#pd-019

I did have a look at those options that you mentioned already and had them all on my maybe list, but at the end of the day it's that green colour that won it for me.
Nice, I think you made a good choice. Be sure to also pick up an 18-14mm reducer for use with the GH. There are a few options, multiple glass types, but also teflon and silicone. The latter options would be ideal as they allow for GH use without the silicone sleeve, but are a bit harder to come by.
Sublimator make a teflon reducer and Ratchett sells some quality silicone options through his Delta3D store

Sorry to go a little of topic but what are in your experience the best percolators for flower vapor? I have very little experience with the various type of percs as in my combustion days I used simple straight tubes with a regular downstem and I'm a bit confused with so many options. I understand that you don't need to have a ton of diffusion but I would like an informed opinion.

Simple answer: Less diffusion is better.
Long: Depends on your situation.

I use a 12 inch recycler with a TON of water. I still get more than enough flavor, but it's easy on my lungs. When I want flavor, I use a small bubbler, filtering through water with no special "perc".

There are inbetweens of all this, just depends. You need a starting point, hence why chinese glass is good, and a well known design is good.

Me, I prefer recyclcers and I use different pieces depending on how much or how little my baby lungs can handle.

How did your piece work out OP?

It's nice, a lot smaller than I imagined. It cools the vapor from the GH a fair bit, but it does still irritate my throat/make me cough quite a lot. Maybe I should have gone for a bigger one?

Try some hot water in a prewarmed piece (think like warming your tea cup). I bet the first rip you take will be the smoothest one of your life. That piece you purchased is a great one if you were looking for a fair priced solid bit of glass. Try using the cone & see if you can get a seal with the GH silicone mouthpiece. Could be a perfectly functional backup to your reducer.

I would suggest that having a few different sized pieces is worth considering. With some strains, a slight tickle from a smaller piece is desirable, others strains are better suited to a bigger chamber and lots of bubbles.

Warm water is a great idea to smooth things over too, plus it has the advantage of being free and doesn't require any extra storage space

Well, I'm glad you replied and mentioned that. I generally like to have a number of different pieces of different sizes. I was in your position, my first piece was too small (or so I thought), and I sometimes wanted a lot more diffusion.

Nothing wrong with it, I would recommend stepping temps and experimenting with warm water and ice cold water (I HATE warm water by the way).

I'm personally more of a recycler. The splash guard mechanism works better, and you can find one of any size that will work depending on your mood.

You could try to sell your piece off, but I personally am more of a fan of this style design. It's more modular.

And once you've got it, you can then use the attachment on other pieces if you feel youi need it to be even easier on the lungs.

I mean, if you're looking for the most filtration? I recommend StevenLMZs 12 inch Taurus. That's what I use when I use my Minivap on Red. It's a lot of water in a small package.

An FTK is a nice choice as well for the grasshopper.

I wouldn't just hold yourself to the traditional fc187 and d020.

In general, I'd recommend sticking to the fc187 and d020 designs though.

13 inch stereo matrix is also a nice pick.

You'll eventually accumulate some pieces. I use 2-3 pieces in a smoking session right now.

Sorry I'm not sure what you mean by any of this.

@abcd5432 I did look at some of those funky designs but was told to keep it simple when dealing with vapour

Sorry I'm not sure what you mean by any of this.

Hey man, I think @Stevenski was referring to warming up the glass piece, run it under warm water, bring the temp up slowly to avoid thermal shock and cracked glass. Once your glass piece is hot but not so hot that it burns you, fill it with hot water. Some people love it, some people hate it, worth a try though.

As for the 'cone' reference I think they were saying use the bowl in that came with your bubbler:

Same here, but the mod isn't a complex design. It's exactly your piece with an extra detachable perc. What is complex about this?

I'd admit the FTK is a "complex" looking design, but it's really not a complex concept.

What you were told with when dealing with is ideal for preserving flavor of the buds. If you were looking for smooth hits, then you needed a different piece. I'd suggest looking through the cheap bubbler thread, people use a variety of pieces.

I personally see no reason to save a couple dollars getting the piece you got, and opted for one with detachable mouth pieces and ability to be used as a perc. Modability is worth $10-15 dollars. TAke a look through the thread. @ataxian in this case made realize how valuable it is to have pieces that you can easily get the right amount of diffusion with.

Really, if you didn't want a lot of diffusion, you wouldn't get an FC 187 or a D020 in the first place. You would get something EXTREMELY simple with a basic slit to produce as little diffusion as possible and would use the water to cool it down only. That would be the "ideal" way to preserve your vapor flavor

Something like this style dropdown into the water. See how basic it is?
https://www.420science.com/products/grav-labs-basic-bubbler-25mm

So minimal bubbles are produced but it's run through water which will cool the vapor down. I have a multi chamber bubbler like this which does great with flavor.

To cool it down more though when using the highest temps on your vape, if your lungs are sensitive, you'll want more diffusion and more water to cool....

You should buy based on what you want, not based on the general way to preserve vapor flavor. Hence the pieces that are modular being my main recommendation.

It's not a large amount of money though, and as you accumulate more pieces, you'll get a real life understanding of what you actually need and what's fun to use.

Really though, the issue is people need to figure out what the users needs are and steer them into a direction that is most likely to target those needs (Which is why I like the FC-Mod and the FC whatever I have that's also similar to that). Because it's got the highest probability of successfully enabling to achieve their goals across a wider range of vaping experiences than a more basic piece for a minimal amount extra $USD.

Good example of how having those pieces can help in instances where you want more filtration.
