My wife's grandmother said these things happen in threes. Well apparently it's fours.

A Gwne Ifil was a fantastic journalist. I watched her on PBS discussing the debates and she looked fine.

Gwen Ifill, Host Of 'Washington Week' And 'PBS NewsHour,' Dies

Gwen Ifill, one of the most prominent political journalists in the country, has died, according to PBS. She was 61.

When she took the helm of Washington Week in Review in 1999, Ifill became the first African-American woman to host a major political TV talk show. Ifill covered seven presidential campaigns and moderated the vice presidential debates in 2004 and 2008. More recently, she moderated a presidential primary debate between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.

Ifill was a preacher's daughter. She was born in New York City to a Panamanian immigrant father and a Barbadian mother. She started her journalism career as a print reporter for the Baltimore Evening Sun and the Boston Herald American. She went on to become a national political reporter for The Washington Post and the White House correspondent for The New York Times.

Ifill died after a battle with cancer.

Fidel Castro dies at age 90, even though he smoked like a chimney. May we all live as long as Fidel. Had been Cuba's dictator from 1959 to 2009.

Didn't see anything about this here . It broke my heart last week to hear that singer Sharon Jones had passed from a long battle with cancer . I'm a huge fan of hers and the funk soul revival movement that she helped bring back . I can remember many great days that me and my wife had with her music as the soundtrack . Plus my daughter loves her music even at only 16 months . She will definitely live on in this household . RIP Ms. Jones . F**k Cancer !!

RIP Castro. I'm sure he did bad things however I feel we need socialism more than ever now.

Mose Allison - Meet Me At No Special Place
Baby, we two can't get along, I'm never right, you're never wrong.
So meet me at no special place, And I'll be there at no particular time.
Baby, it just ain't common sense Mixin' up love with arguments.
So meet me at no special place, And I'll be there at no particular time.
I'm all fed up on stormy weather, I'm going where it's June.
Here's hopin' I see you never '
Cause if I do, that will be too soon.
Now that I've put my heart on ice, Missing you will seem paradise.
So meet me at no special place, And I'll be there at no particular time.

You'd better bring along your glasses In case I'm hard to find, You'll wish you could see before you As clearly as you can see behind.
You can turn back in retrospect Of the times you stuck out your neck.
So meet me at no special place, And I'll be there at no particular time.
All we do is make up
Then quarrel all over again, But this is it the breakup From now on, you knew me when...
So meet me at no special place, And I'll be there at no particular time!

Some more for you hep-cats:

Former astronaut, test pilot, and American hero John Glenn died today, he was 95. He was the first American to orbit the earth. It pains me to watch the Apollo astronauts going away, I grew up marveling at what they were doing. Thumbs up John, we will miss you . . . Rest in peace and Godspeed . . .:rip:

RIP Actor Alan Thicke dies of a heart attack. He was only 69 years old. Remember the show Growing Pains? He's also Robin Thicke's dad. Growing Pains one of the family sitcom shows from the 1980s and 90s.

The Seaver family.

I don't remember growing pains, but I think I remember thicke tried a talk show for a bit back in the post-carson days. He lasted longer than magic or dennis did, but not as long as arsenio or montel.

I have been reminiscing about greg and keith lately, watching and listening to a lot of their music.

This represents a different elp, emerson lake and cozy powell, as carl palmer was with another band called asia at the time I saw this temporary supergroup. Unfortunately the songs were not what I was hoping for; they seemed to be trying to compete with carl and asia rather than returning to visit their glory days.

But we had great seats as we were guests of powell, about five rows back and off to the left so while the sound was very loud and unbalanced (gum in one ear helps with this!), I had a perfect vantage to watch kieth work over his moog with those magic fingers of his. The video below shows greg and kieth back in the early days; to me it shows them well on the way to their musical peak, and at their most endearing.
