Apologies if this has been covered already, I tried going back through the thread but wasn't able to locate the info. I just received my Hercules and am very satisfied/impressed. I plan on ordering a full set of back-up replacement parts for it soon. Regarding ordering a replacement heating rod, I see options on the w9 site for a 2.3 ohm white rod and a 0.8 ohm black rod. The rod that came with the Hercules was white but reads as 0.8 ohms. Is the black rod listed at 0.8 ohm for the SR-74x the correct replacement part for the included rod? And is the white rod listed at 2.3 ohms for the SR-74 a more powerful rod than the white rod that comes installed with the latest gen Hercules? Thank you.

Thank you for question and we are glad the Hercules is the right tool for you.

Let me dive in and answer the questions you have.

The black rod is a direct replacement for the rod you have for your Hercules. Since the newer 510 version has an 8 marked on it instead of the band being black for the previous 74x version.

The 2.3 ohm white rod was designed to work with our Persei at 7.4v, it is not more powerful the. The black rod at all as both rods are just designed to work in different devices.

Hey guys. What is the best current box mod? I was thinking of the Athena envy 17 or the Athena envy plus. Any ideas on which one? Or another mod?

Hi Guys,

Got my Nibbler XL finally (long way to Vietnam) and it definitely brings Hercules to the next level of smoothness.

The only problem I see is in the O-rings which appear to be to thin to keep the proper seal. It took me a while and was close to giving up before I noticed that one out of 4 o-rings was slightly thicker and only putting that one on top insulator piece with the bottom of Herc having all other 3 at the same time (2 regular ones and one in between them) creates a proper seal allowing for pulls from the Herc.

I might set out to look for replacements in local hardware store/shacks as its gonna be a while before I can have someone bring replacements from the US.

Thanks for great work and keep innovating!

The Movkin Disguiser I ordered is perfect for the hercule, long battery life and lot of power. It's a bit bulky and heavy (it uses 2x18650!) but a lot more compact than with my Evic. And the wider base make it more stable. A great combo!

..... while waiting for this new mod THC Scientific posted before!

Looking for some tips from Hercules veterans re: avoiding overfilling/mouthpiece getting clogged/oil coming up through mouthpiece. Anyone using two wicks or any other mods to avoid these issues? Is 1g too much to have loaded?

Yes 1g is too much imo, I prefer to use a 0.2-0.5g load to avoid this issue. Never used 2 coils but since I hit it slowly and don't use inverted I didn't get so much reclaim on the mp screen. although the 1g load is the main issue i think and it's not the better for taste.

Lost my sr-74x on vacation. Had used it for years. Loved it and it went everywhere I would go. Ordered a sr71 because no 610 threaded sr74 available. Is the mouthpiece and heat shield a different material? Kind of has a smell to it. What rod does the sr 71 come with? It does not make as much vapor as my Sr 74. Very disappointing hits. Any pointers or reasons for lackluster hits?

Did you make sure to boil all of the parts or sterilize them with alcohol? Could explain the smell, otherwise I don't think the PTFE has changed. For the SR-71, here are the two potential rods:

SR-71 White band: 1.5Ω, 7.4V, 40 watts
SR-71 Black band: 0.8Ω, 3.7V, 16 watts

Let me know some more information about your setup if you are still having trouble getting it to work properly!

Tempted to grab a backup herc in the sale... it'd be nice to have a 501 black rod herc to go with my 601 white rod herc.

Just letting you guys know its still in development.

Persei V6 with Bender.

Ooooh, that looks good. Any chance you got temp control to work on the bender? As long as temp control works on dual coils and the herc I'll be thrilled, I use those 90% of the time.

Wow that Persei V6! I'm on an old Persei TI before the Kiss thing came out. Lost it for a bit and finally dusted it off recently. Always wanted to try out using it instead of a gas torch, so I recently bought a Hammer after finally finding one in stock and after searching and reading so much of this thread before and after buying it, I'm trying to figure out how to get it working right for me. W9 Support has suggested a narrow nail or a side entry glass dome to be able to get the wax up to the hot spot. Or this setup
I think my nail now has low enough lip to be able to work if I can get the hammer in horizontally enough, but having a hard time finding a side entry dome. My ideas are:
https://www.grasscity.com/us_en/errl-gear-quartz-glass-birdcage-dome-14-5mm.html But not sure if the 'perch' would allow the hammer still
https://www.grasscity.com/us_en/errl-gear-adjustable-ceramic-concentrate-nail-14-5mm.html This looks like it might be narrow enough to get to hammer in well.
https://www.grasscity.com/us_en/gra...-oils-and-concentrates-male-joint-18-8mm.html This looks like I'd be able to get a good angle without having to absolutely load it up with wax

Anyone have any suggestions or links to something that would work better? I've lurked this thread and been searching up the Hammer for a while and still haven't seen too many people's experiences.

Also, curse the sales! I bought a core recently and now I'm going to have to get an Alpha Centauri! Wish I could afford the Hercules but I'll have to wait till after the holidays.

Hi @Montygue,

The nail with the groove cut into it and the side-loading dome were custom-made by Up Tech specifically for use with the Hammer, I don't think you'll be able to find one very easily. If you want to find a nail that'll work with The Hammer right now, I would probably say your best bet would be something in the style of the ceramic nail you linked. Something with a slim, deep cup will force the oils up the sides of The Hammer and maximize your vaporization surface area.

Hmm, I got my kiss AC today. It doesn't seem to fit on my original persei top, but it screws in fine on my hammer top for the persei. Mmm it hits nice though! Happy with it so far! Makes me really want the hercules even more. Next purchase! As long as it fits my persei that is
