^That J hook is so beautiful. Some day I will own it!

Has anyone else gotten a wooden j hook? I've been worrying about ABV and resin build up on my jhook, so I decided to put in a cotton ball underneath my WPA.

Man, that was a great decision! Might have needed to vape a bowl or two more per session, but the reclaim was fantastic and it clearly caught ABV.

I highly recommend wooden j hook owners to try the same.

hi found this thread whilst trying to find some info on the dh gate j or s shape hook pipes, im hoping you guys can help before I pick some up.

im looking to try the j hook thing out with an e nano i have a 14mm gong ready to use with it.
but would like to try it out fairly cheaply as money is tight right now blah blah. so I've found the dh gate ones.

anyone tried them? worth a try as my first j hook?
any tips would be great.

im planning to get a cheap 14mm ash catcher to go with it, but am struggling to pick one and wondering if I should wait to spend more money.

ive narrowed it down to a really cheap honeycomb 14mm ash catcher its about 13 dollars.
Would these be a good starter kit?

thanks for reading any tips greatly received

I was looking thru the j-hook thread last nite and I don't think I saw that one mentioned. Looks pretty sweet though. It may possibly be a concern that you could crack the MP area if it fell from the way it stands but it looks solid they even braced the hook. It has a tight bend so it should get lots of natural perc action too.

Does the narrowness or wideness of the j-hook tube have any bearing on cooling vapor? In general, which would be cooler?

Using with enano & Air (both 14mm).

In general taking all other variables out of play a wider tube should be cooler as it has more mass to absorb heat from the vapor.

Looks like a nice cross between a "Gandalf" style & standup style. Good price too, only $15.99. Would this one work well with an E-Nano?

I went with the sherlock from this post. Needed an adaptor to work with the WPA (14mm) and lotus cap. Instant favorite piece and daily driver. Has nice perc action too.

DISCLAIMER: This piece is very top heavy. In the picture its not falling forward (toward the left edge of the image) because of its own sheer willpower. Twice during the photo shoot it spontaneously fell and I couldn't catch it. Its still alright thankfully but im not going to try and put it down like that again.

In case anyone missed this over in the cheap glass thread, this isn't really what I was going for when I bought this GL AC from Mendicino to go with my GL J-Hook, but it turns out I like it very much. It reminds me a lot of the old days smoking a large tobacco pipe. A little Sherlock Holmsey, if you will... ;)

In CALIFORNIA GLASS BLOWERS are pretty cheap!

@CuckFumbustion these are what I use?
@Justpassedu turned me onto this method.
I think i also had told @CuckFumbustion , I use my Jhook allot while laying in bed watching tv , always through water at a desk or if people are over also using. I have a few myself. 1st pictured by grav labs is a favorite for night time snack.

You have some choices there. Always liked the one with the rounded mouthpiece.

I have been summoned by the powers of the FC thread. :science:
The 18mm J-hook I have gets used by my UD and the Nong most of the time. Plan on getting a 14mm J-hook for my 14mm Nong at some point. The J-hook is the perfect tool for squeezing out those small streaks of vapor and getting something out of that. Just perfect for my UD.

I do have a 45 degree adapter that I use with the F/F heat adapter and the J-hook on top of all that. If you can imagine how unusual that might look.
Makes the J-hook look like something out 1st gen Star Trek. :haw:

Not technically a J-hook, but my 'Spoon' adapters are like a beefier thick glass version that turns my EVO's into glass hammers.

@ataxian if you go with something custom, steal some of the design off of my spoons. They have a sturdy flat bottom and can be sat on there backs. Or the top, if you are looking at SPOONS in my thumbnail. Thick ass glass and looks like the combustion spoons I grew up combusting with. Only larger.

Or better yet, show a glass blower a pic of my EVO SPOONS. Get yourself a thick glass SPOON to go with 3 hooks you have.
@Justpassedu, When I use them with my EVO, I feel like I'm pulling more from the glass bamboo directly. These things will turn your EVO into an ALL GLASS WHIP. :whip:

Not sure what you consider upsidedown? I use it on top of my EVO like in the pic above. Or I hold it like a proper Calabash pipe with the UD on top with the curved part of the J-hook resting in my hand. :sherlock:+;pd;

So use that without the angle adapter on the EVO. Like that. That's how I was using that style jhook.... Now that you tell me to just flip it over... it makes far more sense and is far more comfortable. Rofl... You learn something new every day... I literally never use it because its so ridiculously uncomfortable.ll Now I see what I can do.

I could attach it to something like this!

Ugh, makes far more sense.

I'm like a smart guy I swear.
