Kind Regards

Looks virtually identical to the flowermate pods, wax cups and WPA. Is there any affiliation with Smiss/FM or any of its parents/subsidiaries?

Just received my Odin from puffitup. Haven't tried it yet, primarily because after 15 or more burn offs I still can still smell a mild plastic / Industrial odor. It isn't robot fart level, but I'm still not comfortable using it for actual inhalation yet. Otherwise, I absolutely love the form factor, and the heat up time is very good.

Always interested in buying vapes for friends to get them to quit smoking. My moms best friend isn't a normal user but she was diagnosed with cancer and I am trying to get her a wax pen ad an herb vape together as a gift. I don't want to spend a lot for obvious reasons (I'm giving it away lol) I saw this, the flowermate, a few others and I have a spare Haze I could let go of. Going against other vapes in the sub $50-$130 range? I also have an old davinci I could give her that really isn't a bad vape if you don't mind the fact that the bowl is hard to get to and the heat up time is so slow.
How does this vape compare ti the Haze V3 or another vape I have used to compare it to? What is THE BEST vape for an old woman with cancer and no experience to start vaping with in your opinion?

I've had my Odin since Saturday. I ordered from puffitup on Thursday and I got it in northern Michigan in two days. It had the smell the other guy was talking about. I burned off a few times and ran an oven filled without hitting it. I do t think the odor/taste was coming from the oven as much as the rubberized coating in the air path. The air comes from the mouthpiece storage area and it has the same rubberized coating on there that the Vape has on the outside. It gave it a squirt gun flavor, I called it. Reminded me of drinking water out of a squirt gun. The taste has been fading with use. I think the Vape is very nice. I like the size, it's smaller than I thought. The air flow is nice with a little restriction. More later.

Hello bigmike, thanks for grabbing the Odin. You can swab it down with iso alcohol, then do some burns off. The smell gonna go away. Based on feedback about the smell, our team will do that before sealing. Thank you for your sharing. Look forward to your more thoughts on the Odin :p

I was really looking at buying an Odin until I read some of you mention a nasty plastic smell or weird taste. Taste is a huge factor for me when buying a vape. No flavor -- no go....so if someone could chime in on the plastic smell and water gun taste that would be super

Not an issue, it is new vape smell. I noticed nothing during use, the taste of your vegetables is what comes through. Everyone has levels of tolerance to new or different odors. For the cost of this device many might expect a Chinese piece of shit (no offense to the Chinese), however the taste and performance and effects surpass the flavor, and effects of my Pax2. Ultimately each vaporist must decide for himself, we just try and contribute real life accounts of these machines to give the new initiates some type of baseline to start at.
Good Luck with your choice, I am certain you will do fine.

I would like to weigh in on the Odin.
One was donated to me for purpose of placement with a low income patient.
I want to talk first about the smell/essence that has all concerned.
I do not know if burn-offs are what helps the situation as much as straight up usage.
The oven itself is ceramic, and it does not emit the smell.
It is the plastic that the vaporizer is made of that has an odor.
(I will explain about the taste in minute)
Sniff the Odin all the way around.
The plastic has an essence.
The oven has none... it is inert ceramic.
At the bottom of the oven are holes that the air comes through.
On the other end is the sliding door that holds the mouthpiece.
Open it, and you will see the other end of the ovens breather holes... where you store the mouthpiece.
The cylindrical walls of the mouthpiece holder are untouched and not often aired out.
This tunnel is a strong source of the essence.
Do a few mock hits on mouthpiece with no herb in chamber.
Do it with mouthpiece door shut a we normally do, then open the mouthpiece.
Notice the extremely free flowing air.
You may also notice the "essence" of the plastic.
It is a safe plastic, but it has an aroma nonetheless.
This illustrates that the air being used to pass through the conductively heated herb must pass through this tunnel.
I get monster hits from this unit, and the unit works well.
Tomorrow I will try doing a few hits with the sliding door open to see where that goes.
The flavor does not bother me, and the glass shape is pure... cylindrical rather than the other forms similar vaporizers using a "rear mouthpiece holder" compartment for a glass M.P.
I may try to get some video of this thing too.
Yes I detect the essence, but I understand the source and it doesn't bother me.
One could try swabbing the tunnel with a light Iso solution, but I am not sure if that will change it.
Storing it with the sliding door open when it is not in use, will allow the compartment to breath, and that might allow the aroma to dissipate.
All in all I love the weight and solidity of the unit.
and it is more compact than many, so I will be proud to get this unit into a patient's hands.

Unfortunately @Vitolo I reviewed a few vaporizers that had a strong plastic smell that never went away, even after months of airing and storage, and also after 3 or 4 full charges worth of empty burn-ins with forced air ventilation.

Some plastics are smelly, some are not. When they have a smell it means they off-gas, period. All thermoplastics and thermosets will leach components over time, mostly the plasticizers but also remaining monomers (as the polymerization process is NEVER 100% achieved)

Those plasticizers most often contain BPA and phtalates etc, compounds that have been banned in many countries.

I can't say for sure it's the case here, but if after say 2 charges worth of burn-ins the smell is still there, I'm afraid it won't go away. Yes you could mask it by loading plant material inside the device, but it will be lingering and people with a sensitive nose will still detect it.

I can still detect a faint silicone smell in my Ascent for instance, where most people don't.

Owning well over 100 vaporizers, and having secured over 200 for community mrmbers... I too have had many units that had odors.
When they have a smell it means they off-gas, period.
Wow! That was certainly an ABSOLUTE response.
I respectfully will disagree. SOME units with aromas MAY off-gas.... period.
I can still detect a faint silicone smell in my Ascent for instance, where most people don't.
This implies that you are still using a unit that is in your mind off-gassing?
I can't say for sure it's the case here
At least you admit that you can'y say for sure.
but if after say 2 charges worth of burn-ins
after 3 or 4 full charges worth of empty burn-ins
Repeated burn-ins without meds in the units are not only discouraged by most manufacturers, but have a basis for avoidance in all heat producing technology. Especially with the mouthpiece off....
It is akin to heating your oven with the door open.
The thermostat signals that temp has not been reached (due to chamber/heater/oven being open).
The oven then never ceases the battle to reach temp, but keeps trying to hit that setting,
By heating this way, it has been my experience that with some units, you are not "burning off odors, but rather you are baking those odors in.
You are also shortening the life of the heater, by "burning off" with the thermostat signaling that temperature was not reached.
I was given this unit because the donor did not like the essence.
I will give it to a patient, who like me can ignore the essence.
The only vaporizer I ever used that had a smell too great for me to continue trying was the "Elevape Smart Vape". It had a smell that others could not detect, but it prevented me from using the unit.
I guess we all have a limit.
6 years ago a big deal was made about Vapir units off-gassing.
The NO2 was target here and on other forums.
A dozen members in that thread that had never seen or tried a unit, pointed fingers chanting "off gassing".... and "do burnoffs with units empty and open."
Vapir had the money to get tests done and certifications made proving both the point about heating units empty, AND about the presence of off gassing. Finally the mob mentality attack on Vapir subsided.
While I detect that there is an essence in the Odin, the essence is not a deal killer for many, and I still think the unit is a good functioning unit for some patients on a budget.
I get monster hits from this unit, and the unit works well.
Tomorrow I will try doing a few hits with the sliding door open to see where that goes.

I may try to get some video of this thing too.
I will follow-up on my plans to do a few hits with the back door open (greater air flow), to see if it increases the hit density in any way...and also to get some video up here also.

One of the things I am liking about the unit is the ease of cleaning.
It is as easy to keep tidy.
The vapor path is under an inch long, so requires less of an ordeal to clean. This is a plus for patients that have limited manual dexterity.

Video as promised.
The unit heats up fairly fast... not as fast as the CFX but it is not a slow-poke.
Trying the Unit with the door open was a good experiment.
Vapor thickness did not suffer from the free draw, but there was a large difference in the restriction of inhalation.
With the door open I detected less plasticine essence.
You will notice in the video that I opened and closed the sliding door.
Once I did this mid-hit to feel the change and taste the difference.
Here is the video:

Edit Note;
I borrowed a friends cut off "doob tube", and slid it snugly in place in the rear mouthpiece port. I inhaled through it with mouthpiece door open. As I suspected this eliminated the essence coming through the mouthpiece. If one had a short glass tube of the tunnel size, they could have a completely glass air entry way, and no flavor in their herbal vapor.
I won't personally take it to that extent, but it is an idea for purists that already own the Odin.
At this price and with the numerous pluses I am happy with the unit.
At the time I place the unit in the hands of a low income terminally ill patient, I will ask if they detect any unpleasant flavors that turn them off. I will then decide accordingly if it is for them.
Meanwhile this is my unit for the day.

Anyone have any in depth vapor quality comparisons between this, the CF, and the Focusvape? They are close in price and I've had my eye on all 3.

Got my Odin a few days ago, I really think this vape is great. It charges fast, it heats up real fast. I have been temp stepping starting at 385, next to 390, then finish at 400. The flavor stays for the first session, which does not take the full 5 min. The draw restriction is very open, the clouds are quite large. The effects feel like a convection buzz. The unit is well made, fits the hand well. No problem getting 3 sessions from a small serving. I do not pack the bowl, just hand tear the herb and drop it in the chamber. For the price, it kicks the Alfa's ass, and the Pax 2 as well. It provides better effects than my soon to be former CFX.
It does come with a bit of new vape aroma which quickly fades. Great starter vape, great session vape.
When you say it kicks the Alfas/Pax2's ass, do you mean the vapor quality and efficiency is the same as those units but this one wins simply because it's alot cheaper? Or does it actually outperform the Alfa/Pax2 in the vapor department?

And pardon my ignorance but are the effects from conduction really that much different than convection? (newb question I know). Maybe I'm not that seasoned in vaping flowers yet, but I didn't feel any difference in the type of high between my Alfa and my friend's Volcano. Flavor yes, effects no...

I just got this unit from a buddy here. I will be giving this unit to a low income cancer patient. The only device she has used in the past is a Davinci I passed down to my mom a while back. This should be a huge upgrade from that.
I did give it a try. The first thing I noticed was the fast heat up time! WOW, this thing flies. I with my Mighty heated as fast. I love how easy it in to load and attachments and concentrate inserts should be an easy upgrade.
I did also notice what all of the other reviewers have mentioned, the taste and small of plastic. I am pretty sure this is coming mostly from the empty mouthpiece holder as others have mentioned. I did an iso swab on it and it seemed to help a little. It's not a deal breaker, especially for the money. It hits almost as hard as my Mighty, for $105 that's saying something! I have a feeling the smell will dissipate as she uses it. I remember my neoprene sleeve to my Evo stinked so bad when I first got it I could barely hit it with it on... 1 month later and there is no smell whatsoever. Hopefully it's the same with the Odin, Nice vape so far. You got a winner if the smell fades and the flavor improves. Either way I think it's a decent budget vape.

She is going to be so pleased with it!

I have studied this further.
The smell emanates from the "matte" areas...
the side panels (but not the ribs) and the bottom... and both sliding doors.
careful inspection reveals a totally different composition in the tunnel.. a smooth and finished wall.
I did many sessions today with bottom door slid open, and they all were thick rich vapor sessions.
I noticed no essence.
I just tried with the door shut, and got more resistance and more essence.
After a number of sessions I rook a break and went to dinner, and with a fresh palate did a session... bottom door closed, and did not taste anything other than meds.

A comment about this very good vaporizer.
For the posters out there that worry about smells...
... and the free and loose, undocumented use of the term "Off-Gassing"...
If you do not care for the smell of the unit then do not use it....
and share with us that "you do not care for the smell".
Please get Lab tests with definitive Published results before you cry "the sky is falling" (the term "Off-Gassing" used in a partially educated and alarmist manner).

Does this blow as big clouds as the boundless cf....
Yes, but with a less restrictive draw.

The Odin is legit. It has a break in period. It's worth it and isn't that offensive. On another topic I see the glass in the mouth piece is like a 510 drip tip with O-rings. Could @Mike-Topbond get who ever makes the mouthpeice, make an 18mm gong? When are your pods and WPA coming out?

One more plus about the Odin is the smell factor. The Odin doesn't stink up your car/pocket/back pack You knew when my MFLB was in my car. I think this is the best portable Vape you can get for under 250-300 bucks.

I would say that it outperforms the vapes you mentioned.
I tried out the Alfa, and I use the Pax 1 and Pax 2.
For whatever reason (subconscious.... psychological... maintenance issues... and any number of reasons that make us do things...) I grab for the Odin, before the Pax1 or Pax 2.. (the alfa is gone, it has been placed in a home months ago).
This subconscious act that has happened repeatedly through the afternoon and evening, when I need a portable... tells me that it is outperforming the vapes you mentioned.
