Discontinued The Grasshopper

As for stealth I've definitely hopped at Penn Station, and often in the airport, it can't get stealthier.
Hopping in the airport? You are a brave man! I don't think I'm brave enough for that.

I have used the hopper in a movie theater during the movie. I used a smoke buddy jr. to get rid of visible vapor and odor. It worked like a charm. I've also hit it directly in front of a police station while passing by.

No whistling on my unit & I find the draw restriction to be about perfect. My guess is you are over packing it.
Glad to hear you have no whistling sounds, there may be something wrong with my unit. Because for me it's very noticeable. It does make a noticeable whistling sound when I draw hard enough to beat the draw sensor.

You can be sure I don't over pack it. I did use larger loads to experiment but 0.05g is my preferred quantity to experiment (enough to cover the gh screen). I like to microdose when I can (I love the taste of fresh bowls). But I vary quantities at the moment since I'm experimenting. With other vaporizers like the Nano or LSV-dome screen, I use even less than 0.05g since you can get dense vapor with it. You must know the LSV has no draw resistance at all, so the hopper represent a large drop from this for me. Still, I'm surprised by the high/med level of draw resistance.

Could you elaborate on you think you have a hot backend issue? Does it produce instant heat at the back similar to where the heater is just below in the intake holes? Have you been clicking the unit off several seconds before the end of your draw to reduce overall heat?
I think the back-end gets hot independently from the radiating heat from the heater. It's easy to see by grabbing/touching the hopper body while your draw. Also my battery last around one bowl and I start getting flashing blue lights.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but based on other folks' experience, the combination of hot back end and very short battery life seems to indicate a faulty back end.
Not sure, but I'd check for dirty contacts (and on the battery), and gunk in the threads. Having said that, it still may be signs of arcing.

I've used my Pinnacle Pro and miVape many times in movie theaters and at all sorts of music events in theaters, in my seat and without a smoke buddy. Never had a problem. I'm really looking forward to using the hopper in those scenarios.

GC is quieter at 10:30 pm. I used Hopper in one of the long corridors that leads from street to the Main Concourse, and also on platform. Train was filling up, so there's the walking along next to it for a bunch of cars full of passengers. I decided to not give a crap whether they saw me or not as I walked past them, boarding several cars farther down. As you say, the e-cig thing has given us a lot of cover in these situations!

I have Mighty, too, and I'm finding (initially) that Hopper is using less material to yield great effect. But once home from NYC, a nice session with Mighty really hit the spot!

Absolutely, I've taken it that late, but there are usually army dudes in the main concourse along with police and bomb-sniffing dogs (no worries about drugs with them I think). Still think it's bold. I've hit my CO2 cart on the platform waiting to go to GCT but never in GCT. Just figured there are people all over. But that makes me super jazzed for the Grasshopper to be quiet honest.

Because if it is that stealthy, and I do believe it is, that opens up a world of possibilities. The mighty is more of a session vape but if I can get one or two good blow out hits really quickly, that would be ridiculous in situations that demand it.

Having access now to CO2 carts is the ultimate in stealth to be honest, but I much prefer the flowers as they are cheaper and they work better for my Crohn's disease. So with the stealth aspect of the grasshopper, I'm extremely excited.

Has anyone taken a grasshopper into radio city music hall?

i have a little whistling sound too when i draw but i thought that was normal.

also i'm not sure if i read this from somewhere else before, but if i hold my hopper with my thumb pressing into the curved part of the clip while i'm taking a draw, it barely gets warm at all. if i hold it avoiding the clip, i feel more warmth being generated on the unit. i'll have to do more testing on this unless someone can comment and tell me that this is an already known thing.

I saw dogs at Lincoln Center, but they looked so friendly! No bombs on me at the time, though. :\

Can you please tell me what CO2 cart is?

Any Rockettes out there hopping?

Hey @ooo , when hitting hard I hear a whooshing sound that can sound a little like a whistle but mostly like a whoosh as air enters the little intake holes. Some ears might perceive it as a whistle.
This reminds me of about my very first thought upon using the Grasshopper. It was, "This thing should have been called the Cricket, what with all this clicking (on & off for every hit!)."
Also, real sorry to hear about out-of-the box issue with backend. Seems you should have heard back by now. Spam folder?

Off-topic but sure :-). A CO2 Cart thing is a pre-filled liquid cart similar to an e-cigarette, but using CO2 extraction techniques to get the THC and stuff out.

Check out:

http://liveneos.com/strains/

I understand those are hard to come by in non-legal states (as we are in one), but sometimes your connection might have them. Never hurts to ask. LOL

--------------

Back on topic - I'm curious to see how well the Grasshopper performs. I'm excited that people are comparing this to a somewhat portable Cloud Evo (which is the top in my books).

I only bought one extra battery and have been contemplating ordering a few more, but I don't want to mess with my order, or do another order with the mailing charges.

LOL. I'm gonna hold out.

Thanks for the off topic education. Will wonders never cease?
Two batteries will marginally hold you, depending, of course...
Maybe get a couple more on order as soon as you have shipping confirmation, or prudently wait to see if you actually like Hopping.

If your order doesn't have address confirmation yet, email Caroline about adding batteries to your order. You can also ask her to confirm that the order change won't affect your place in line. I'm pretty confident she'll help and accommodate you.

I'm not brave enough to do that. I use my hopper at 4 and blow out huge clouds, I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that in a theater. Besides the legality aspect, I feel uncomfortable blowing huge clouds of vapor around other people's heads and in their line of sight. I wouldn't want someone doing that to me with an e-cig.

I could see myself using the hopper at lower temps without a smoke buddy, as long as there wasn't much visible vapor I could hold it in long enough to make most of it disappear.

The way I prefer to use it, the hopper just puts out clouds that are too big and dense in my opinion. I tend to be overly cautious too.

If you can get away with it, that's awesome! I love hearing about all the crazy places people vape in public! :science::peace::leaf:

I should clarify: I HATE HATE HATE seeing movies in theaters with other people, and with Netflix I don't go to the theater all that often. But there are some films that just NEED to be seen on the full-size screen. For those, I time my viewing for a couple of days before a film ends its run and I go to the first matinee or the late night show on a school/work day. I am often ALONE in the theater (my personal heaven) or at most there are 6-12 other people there and we all give each other plenty of space. I always get there very early and grab the seat in the exact center of the theater.

For music shows, no one gives a shit, as far as I can tell. I'm figuring the large majority of them spent time before the show doing what I'm doing in my seat. They might be jealous :brow: but they don't seem to care. Besides, it's not like my buddy and I are sitting there ripping massive bong hits throughout the show. At the start of the show (or each set) we each take a couple of hits on low/med temps and that's it.

I reckon the smoke buddy in the cinema is a great idea!
Even when my hopper was combusting when it was busted, the smoke buddy jr. basically reduced the cloud to nothing. Effective with smell too.
Just added it to my to-do-list. I have a cinema ticket voucher too.

I'm hoping tomorrow I get my pre-order parcel!

I may have to invest in a smoke buddy for less solitary public misadventures.

For music shows I wouldn't care at all. Honestly the movie theater is the only place I'm that cautious, and it's mainly because of the visual distraction. I prefer not to lower temps and use a smoke buddy instead. But like I said I encourage everyone to use their hopper as brazenly as possible. I've been getting bolder myself.

It was a lovey experience. No visible vapor at all for me, and I was using shatter in cotton! There was a very small smell but I think I was leaving a tiny bit of vapor in the mouthpiece of the smoke buddy itself. I doubt you could smell it for more than 2 or 3 feet away. The way it works you can't really push that last bit of vapor through the filter. I've since modified my technique to fully exhale through the smoke buddy jr, and then inhale through my nose and exhale that fresh breath through the jr. It's way less complicated then it sounds.

The hopper with a smoke buddy/sploofy is the ultimate in stealth. I only bring the smoke buddy when I need to be extra discreet. Usually I'm blowing clouds everywhere.

Concert goers pretty much don't give a shit, I agree.
Last month my brother went to a (almost) Dead show in Camden NJ. In seat in front of him was a girl 'Grateful Dead dancing' and progressively taking off clothing (which bro did not mind), all while smoking joints. Near beginning of second set an 'usher' sat down next to her, looked at her ticket and they talked for a minute, then left. She didn't return. So, it seems that someone still 'cares', at least in Jersey.

We are sooo far off topic. Should there a "Places I Have Vaped" thread? Or is there one already?

You might want to check the charger for metal debris:

Unfortunately, in my case, I think the magnet used to connect the hoppers charger, is prone to picking up bits of conductive metal material in a messy shop environment like mine.

I can see all kinds of "stuff" stuck to the end of the charger after touching my bench. This could be the problem anyways... lol

External is the way to go for me.

Update: After trying to wipe my USB chargers clean with iso to remove metal debris unsuccessfully lol, I finally used compressed air and just blew both charger magnets clean with an air wand.

Both worked like new again after doing this.

Still loving these hoppers.

Well the first time I decided to use the charger that came with the Hopper was today, because the one I bought for my friend seems to have a charger problem. So she came over and I tried MY charger.

They both seem DOA. Even with a known good battery in either hopper, neither of our chargers get a response from the hopper lights.

Warranty request, here we come.

The hopper is the ultimate.
I was just cleaning my matrix glass pipe, when three new hoppers arrived.

The colours are sensational. I am extremely happy!
The new Ti is glossy, the dial is buttery smooth. A pity I have to give that one away to its owner!
Blue is exactly what I was hoping for, bronze looks glorious.

First there was one
52h1f9.jpg

Now there are two
103bm68.jpg

The back-end on this new blue unit doesn't generate any heat at all. I might have to replace my original Ti backend, we'll see.
Two hoppers in tandem is unreal though, super strong.
