Water curing AVB

Sorry for not posting in the AVB forum, it said I don't have privileges there...but I figured this can relate to everyone haha

Does anyone water cure their avb? I don't like the taste of it at all, but I lightly vape my weed almost more to a light brown toasted look, it even smells good still haha. But the taste is the worst. I think for my next batch I'm going to try water curing it as that is supposed to majorly eliminate the taste, which would be awesome haha

I am interested in this.....

Can you describe the process and benefits of water curing ABV?

I hope it's not against the rule to link to other forumsites but this is where I saw it talked about.

http://boards.cannabis.com/threads/watercuring-for-stronger-tasteless-and-odorless-abv-buds.185314/

And here is someone's process and how the results turned out.

http://www.vaporizerwizard.com/how-to-water-cure-your-already-vaped-bud-avb/

It seems to essentially remove all of the taste and odor if you persist long enough and makes it about 30% stronger which aligns with what I remember the benefits of water curing fresh buds to be.

AVB (I think ABV is just a joke cause it's often mistakenly typed that way). "Already Vaped Bud". The spent contents of a dry herb vaporizer chamber which can't be vaped further but still has some "goods" left over. It can be eaten, used in tinctures and topical salves, or even smoked if you are really hard up.

If you are using your AVB to make canna-coconut oil you can always wash said oil as the last step in the process. Mix (completed) hot oil and boiling H20 together and then put in fridge. Once oil has solidified dump the dirty water and repeat. Process is complete when water comes out clean. No bad smell/taste remains - noticeable difference.

(uuuuphfjda)...sorry...the thought of doing that and the smells it would produce lol! YECH

But seriously, i've done plenty of water curing before vaping (bud washing as well) with great results. I believe it would be a giant mess with ABV.

I just used a smaller mason jar and my hand covered it enough that I didn't even need to strain it to dump the water out and it was quite simple. It made a huge difference in terms of unpleasant smell.

And re. the acronyms that actually occurred to me like right after I posted this...but I still wasn't sure. I woulda voted for AVB; it has an actual noun in it and the acronym is used as one.

I use a french press and pour hot water (a little below boiling) over the herb and let it sit for 5 mins+ before I pour the water out and put new hot water in.. I repeat until it comes out clear or close enough, at that point I'll take it out, wring it out, and dry it.. Either spread it thin and air dry for a couple days, or use the oven for a little bit at low temps.. Makes a huge difference in smell and taste.. MUCH gentler on the digestive tract too.

When it comes to AVB, most of what was in the herb has already been stripped, so I really don't see a real need to water "cure" for a week since I find just rinsing it until it's clear makes a huge difference, and it only takes ~30 mins.. I've never done the whole week long process myself.

*On a side note.... AVB > ABV  unless we're talking "Alcohol By Volume" ;)

Just the way ABV is used in sentence, I find a lot of times AVB would make more sense when worded out.. just one example :whip:
Never water cured Already Been Vaporized before...
Now try it w/ AVB... ;)

Interesting so if I had a bunch of avb coconut oil I could just heat it up and mix with boiling water? Any ideals on amount of water to oil?

A clear pyrex bowl filled with equal parts of boiling water and canna-coconut oil is the best bet. You get to watch the water gradually turn from a murky mess to crystal clear after each successive wash. No more bad smell or taste. One caveat mind you - if you used lecithin (emulsifier) in your original batch of oil, do not use any mechanical (mixer/immersion blender/magical butter machine etc..) means to mix the boiled h20 and oil - it will create a frothy, oily mess that is impossible to fully reclaim. A gentle stir with a wooden spoon is all that's required. This oil washing method also works to remove most of the taste/smell for non-avb oil - for those who dislike any noticeable taste of herb in edibles.

Hi everyone, i always store my avb and use it when iam out of buds. I do the double amount in my vape and crisp it a bit to lose the stuff a bit and i can say i get good results with it and this gets me almost high (not as good as fresh buds but cmon, this is great and you get this from almost nothing). I dont understand people they get a rid of they avb and put it in the trash ...

Do i also benefit from water cure even when i reuse it it my vape? as mentioned above, i have less but more potent material.
Other people say its 30% more potent (yes i dont really believe it).
Its a good idea to test it and vape it again?

Best Regards:)

I've water cured my ABV, and plan to in the future. The flavor and smell are better, IMO. I can't say I'd use boiling water, as room temperature works fine, and I want to avoid heat and light as much as I can in the process. I've never tried to vape it this way, but will try it the next time I wash any. I've made ABV flour, and used some in baking. It was strong, and I need to cut way back next time. The flavor was barely noticeable, and not unpleasant. For me, washing is just the next step before using in salve, tincture, etc. It's an easy way to get rid of much of the smell and flavor. I use the 'dirty' water that runs off to water plants. I don't worry about %. The question I ask is, am I about to throw out something that can be used well in another way? If yes, I try something else. Water curing makes it more useful, for me. :2c:

I just want to share my experience with my water cured avb. i have had washed avb that was allready vaped (so this was a second time avb) and i must say after a few days, the water was clearer and also after drying and vaping i have great success in terms of smell and taste. It doesnt even taste like roasted Cannabis AVB (it was reallsy subtle), its more neutral but it get me high a third time and its great when youre out of buds.

there is a secondary benefit to water curing ... avb when eaten produces pot farts ... yup farts that smell just like weed ... not a good thing if you work in an unfriendly environment ... water curing pretty much eliminates this side effect!
sniffers all around to detect Canna Ass ... is your Ass Canna or what ?

I've smelled sewer vents that smeeled like cananbis! seriously, thought they were growing in their basement but was a leaky sewer pipe.... kept looking around all day while on that job wondering who's growing around here LOL...
Had some Corona Beer too that tasted just like cannabis... we were looking on the ingredients eTC wondering if they added it in LOL

I water cured a couple mason jars of AVB for a week, it's sitting in a mesh colander drying out now. I'm planning on 24 hours in my crock pot with some coconut oil. It's the first time I've used AVB--do I need to decarb it? 220*F in the oven for 30 minutes or is that unnecessary? Thanks.
