How do you vape in public?

...my comment wasn't directed at any one person....just my observations..my dad used to tell me.."keep walking on the planet ...if you're lucky enough to live this long...you'll see what I mean"....he was right

Wihile @Baron23 disagrees that the toxicity of the substance makes no difference in public consumption,
I believe it makes a substantial difference in that seeing people do anything in public generally desensitizes the public to that "act" being performed.
Desensitization to the public use of things that are disease causing and addictive rather than curative and natural will have a clear impact on the future behaviors of those that witness the act.
Recreational use of MJ does not concern me.
I happen to be a patient.
Alcohol abuse concerns me in that there is easy access to alcohol, and the youth of today have enough obstacles trying to avoid peer pressure and achieve healthy, successful, and morally responsible adulthood.

Now, as to DC law...I also live in this metropolitan area and think you may wish to look more closely into the laws in affect in DC:

What is still a criminal violation?

A person can still be arrested for:

  • Selling any amount of marijuana to another person;
  • Possessing more than two ounces of marijuana;
  • Operating a vehicle or boat under the influence of marijuana; or
  • Smoking, eating, or drinking marijuana – or holding or carrying a lighted roll of paper or other lighted smoking equipment filled with marijuana – in any public space, such as:
    • On any street, sidewalk, alley, park, or parking area;
    • In a vehicle on any street, alley, park, or parking area; or
    • Any place to which the public is invited.

I do not recall seeing this before which really means nothing that I don't recall it, just saying I don't recall it but a closer look/ refresher is needed indeed apparently. See I already have a reason to be glad you stuck around!

In my state (Arizona), it is illegal for any person to drink alcohol in a public place unless they are in a condoned enclosed public recreation area that states alcohol is allowed or on private property.
Edit:
Please note... I am not in ANY way opposed to drinking... I find the activity more than acceptable.
My point was about the comparison made.
@Baron23 seems sincere as hell, and I hope nobody feels I was challenging or trying to insult.

Public perception has a long way to go. I live in a conservative part of Colorado. The city has banned the sale/cultivation/manufacturing of commercial cannabis.

There was a festival that came to town, and the organizers had requested a "private" area for MJ users to consume while they were at the festival. They set up a ton of rules, wouldn't allow people to leave the fairgrounds and return w/o paying for re-entry (daily ticket cost). Many locals were outraged that people wanted to consume MJ while at this festival even though it was in a enclosed tent on-site. They were crying foul, mostly about the perceived negative activities of "potheads" but also the town's children would be subject to exposure to pot culture.

Some guy was passing out joints to people on the public sidewalks during 4/20 and within 2 days they had ammended the rules in the city to prohibit even that activity on city property, even though the guy was checking ID's, etc.

I will say this, it's nice to drive down the road in my town and see the Colorado state flag (cannabis version) flying outside of establishments as well as in home owners yards and even in their windows facing the road.

Interestingly enough, when the festival was over, the county sheriff said that things went a lot better than expected. Perception didn't win this time.

My 75w box mod with Divine Tribe donut looks so much like a regular vape that I hit that thing anywhere with some good shatter, even 20 feet DOWNWIND of a cop. I also think the Milaana is fairly stealth because of the same reason. With a M2M as the stem it looks a lot like a mechanical mod e-cig vape.
BUT I have also used my other vapes too in places like concerts and cool bars outside. The actual people in my city are surprisingly cool in this non legal town even if the cops aren't. Just act like you aren't doing anything wrong, which is pretty easy because morally you are not :)

I'm trying to pick just 1 vape to sneak on the cruise ship! Aww man this is a hard decision! lol. It might be between the Milaana and the Lotus. and I know the concentrate and DT atty's are coming with me. I hope my new VTC Mini batteries with Temp control come in before I leave!

Please be careful with vapes on a cruise. It's pretty easy to get them and the MJ on the cruise but.... you should be aware that depending on your itinerary they may bring the dogs on board prior to off-boarding AND will walk them by the luggage waiting on you in the terminal if you aren't doing a carry-off yourself.

There's also customs to deal with as you leave. I was behind a woman at the customs desk when the agent found her purchase of pills and asked her for her prescription. She admitted she had no prescription and had bought them (think it was Mexico) in the overseas port. The agent was visibly upset but not nearly as upset as the woman who got caught as they asked her to step aside until another agent would walk her to the interrogation room. I've never seen the dogs hanging around the custom's agent desk/kiosk though.

I bring it on board but I only bring enough MJ for the cruise so I have nothing left and use a vape (Ubie) I'm throwing away before leaving the ship.

I'm with you....I not only don't want to mess with our customs, but I definitely don't want to get involved with the justice organs of foreign 3rd world countries and when at dock, you are in their country. Was on a cruise once and saw a crew member dragged off kicking and screaming by the Panamanian cops for dope. Was a real eye opener. Of course the ship left without him.

I'm with you. I will try to only bring enough flower for the trip. Concentrates will be a little harder to throw out if I don't use it all though. A little silicone container of shatter in with the toiletries just seems so inconspicuous. I wonder how much shatter/crumble my girlfriend and I can vape just out of a pen in 10 days? Maybe 7 grams with heavy use? I would hate to run out, but throwing a couple grams of shatter away would piss me off!

mainly i use it at work.. instead of leaving to go on L rides. this vapd has allowed me to remain working and get medicated. i use my crafty for this purpose.

i have been telling myself that there is no smell associated with it. maybe its not 100% true but ive had no issues with people.. the smell either isnt too strong or it dissapears quickly or perhaps both...

vaping brings so much relaxation.. no more paranoia with blunts. just perfect :)

i can vape anywherr and people can just think its an e-cig.

I'm definitely not running, I just rather thought that Vitolo and I had concluded our discussion and that on a point or two we disagree...respectfully.

Yep, back surgery and significant neuropathy since 2004. Dang right, it sure is a life changer.

If said in response to me, please let me again say, as clear as I can, I do not set myself up as the arbiter of any one else behavior at all. That's it.

I expressed my view.

The end

The best to you all
I find it interesting that the law specifically mentions smoking, eating, and drinking marijuana, but not vaporizing. It even specifically mentions lighted rolls of paper and lighted smoking equipment.

Vaporization does not meet any of those requirements for illegal consumption, unless you're using a butane vape, that could qualify as lighted smoking equipment to an uninformed court.

You would still probably get arrested for vaping right in front of a cop in public, but I think you would have a good chance of getting the charge dropped with a decent attorney.

And then they would immediately amend the law to include vaping.

When I vape in public I tend to do it relatively openly. I've always believed it's best to hide in plain sight. A lot of people use box mods where I live, you see them everywhere. My Grasshopper and CFX can pass as E-Cigs, especially at a distance.

For times ultimate discretion is needed I bring my smoke buddy jr. with me.

Grasshopper + Smoke Buddy Jr. = Virtually Undetectable.

I always just try to use discretion and avoid people in general and especially places where children could be around. I just normally palm my Mighty so the screen doesn't show and vape casually like it is an E cig. It really makes no sense that people in both medical and legal states cannot consume the cannabis they bought legally in public via vaporization in areas where people can smoke cigarettes or consume alcohol. I am glad the law is easing up (mainly for the benefit of the government and not so much for our human rights to consume Cannabis) but it has a long ways to go before it makes sense.

Who knows, maybe the general pop will vape enough to realize it is a practical method for discreetly using Cannabis in public in a way that is non intrusive to those around the vapist.

Not legal here...
Just very fortunate

I have got to get me one of them carts

Also in a non-legal state but can get those carts. They are the best for outside. I wouldn't be afraid to take that on a cruise.

I use my Mighty outside, or the prefilled cart. I just try not to be suspicious of obvious with it.

I will whip out my crafty and vaporize some herbs pretty much anywhere any time.

The smell is minimal. the taste is great and the effect is great.

There are a ridiculous number of pre filled cartridges, and very generic looking E JOINTS ...FLAVORX.
too many really.

Some use a de constructed BHO where they remove the terpenes then add back in terpenes for a specific flavor. Not into these buy they work. I do not know if pot sniffing can smell pot in one of these e joints with deconstructed BHO in it...

So in concerts where everybody is lighting a joint working the crafty is as normal as normal can be.

there are parts of LA where people pretty much consume outside in public (Hollywood and Venice) Hollywood used to have MANY dispensaries. NO MORE very few and far between in Hollywood.

I think that ease of access helps.
SMOKE is really fround upon in california. they have been on ATTACK making tobacco enemy no1.

so smoking (tobacco) is illegal outside in public... like in Beverly hills and in Santa Monica....

the fight is not over.
